Normal predicative logics with graded modalities

چکیده

Absiraet. in this work we extend results from [4], [3] and [2] about propositional calculi with graded modalities to the predicative level. Our semantic is based on Kripke models with a single domain of interpretation for all the worlds. Therefore the axiomatic system will need a suitable generalization of the Barcan formula. We haven't considered semantics with world-relative domains because they don't present any new difficulties with respect to classical case. Our language will have, as in [1], constant and function symbols, but they will have a rigid interpretation. In this instance the terms will be considered "rigid designators", that is, their interpretations will be the same in all possible worlds (cfr. E5]).,Nevertheless we will not consider languages with identity: in this way we avoid the problems of identity in modal contexts. On the other hand, we think that in that context would arise essentially the same problems which occur in classical predicative modal logic. Finally we will consider only denumerable languages because the extension to non denumerable ones isn't conceptually problematic.

An Infinitary Graded Modal Logic (Graded Modalities VI)

We prove a completeness theorem for K:l, the infinitary extension of the graded version K O of the minimal normal logic K , allowing conjunctions and disjunctions of countable sets of formulas. This goal is achieved using both the usual tools of the normal logics with graded modalities and the machinery of the predicate infinitary logics in a version adapted to modal logic. Decidability by Filtrations for graded normal logics (graded modalities V)

1. I n t r o d u c t i o n Graded normal logics ( G N L s ) are the extensions of modal normal logics to a language with graded modalities. The interpretation in usual Kripke models of a formula <>hA (n < w), whose main operator is a graded possibility, is there are more than n accessible worlds where A is true. When graded modalities were introduced (in [7], independently rediscovering a forme...

F . N ESCO Graded Modalities , II

This work intends to be a generalization and a simplification oI me tecm~,~=~o employed in [2], by the proposal of a general strategy to prove satisfiability theorems for NLGM-s ( normal logics with graded modalities), analogously to the well known technique of the canonical models by Lemmon and Scott for classical modal logics.

General canonical models for graded normal logics (graded modalities IV)

We prove the canonical models introduced in [D] do not exist for some graded normal logics with symmetric models, namely KB ~ KBD ~ KBT ~ so that we define a new kind of canonical models, the general ones, and show they exist and work well in every case.

A Set-Theoretic Approach to Automated Deduction in Graded Modal Logics

In the paper, we consider the problem of supporting automated reasoning in a large class of knowledge representation formalisms, including terminological and epistemic logics, whose distinctive feature is the ability of representing and reasoning about finite quantities. Each member of this class can be represented using graded modalities, and thus the considered problem can be reduced to the p...
